The people of Missouri are struggling with the cost of healthcare, groceries and gas. And they fear for their jobs and potential layoffs. We must ensure that in Missouri we do all we can to control these costs and fears. Then additionally we must continue to put pressure on the politicians in Washington DC to take care of the real issues that matter to real people. Take the politics out of doing what is best for people. Its about Community- not Party, not Politics.
Jobs & Economy
We must create and maintain an overall business environment that encourages businesses to want to be in Missouri and create jobs. We must have an economic system that says “yes” to private sector job creation, small business startups and the entrepreneurial spirit of Missourians. Our regulatory and tax system must be controlled in a way that encourages honest profits, more private investment and savings.
Government does not create long-term jobs that add productivity to the economy, a successful business can — and will. I will continue to support and vote for programs like the Missouri Manufacturing Act and will support expanding it and other tools that encourages job growth and retention in Missouri. We must make Missouri a leader in business startups and innovation by investing resources like the UMKC Small Business Center and funding programs to encourage similar enterprises.
Education
Education is a necessity for a skilled workforce and competent society. And part of education means job skills. I will continue to work to promote high-quality K-12 education for our children by ensuring that teachers and districts have the tools to have high achievement. I support a reliable and stable funding source for education, along with real accountability in our classrooms so our tax dollars fund quality education and produce people that better the quality of life and economy of the state as well as enrich their own lives.
Fiscal Responsibility
One of the most important jobs as a legislator is being an advocate for your tax dollars. As representative I have and will continue to support responsible spending and a balanced budget. I have voted for and will continue to support limited state spending and a balanced budged without a tax increase. I feel it is my duty to act responsibly with your hard-earned tax dollars to utilize them wisely. I will strive to continue this fiscal responsibility. Heightened taxes and destructive public debt can force Missouri into a long-term economic depression, I will fight against this..
Cutting Red Tape
I believe regulation stands in the way of hiring and new jobs. I voted for legislation that would require the bureaucracy to justify all their rules every five years, so that unneeded legislation does not stay on the books. Missouri must deregulate in order to better our economy. It’s about creating more opportunity for more people, because more opportunity leads to a better way of life for Missourians. As state, we must act to make it easier for entrepreneurs to invest and create jobs. We must continue to control spending, keep taxes in check and cut red tape for Missouri to prosper. I have voted consistently to do all of these things.
